Forest Growers Levy Trust Inc Background

The Forest Growers Levy Trust Inc (FGLT) is an incorporated society. Its members have been drawn from a cross-section of the forest growing industry in order to achieve incorporation.

The Trust Board is made up of seven members:

• Four members elected by potential levy payers with 1000 ha or more of plantation forest (voting proportional to their production in the previous year);
• Two members elected by potential levy payers with less than 1000 ha of plantation forest;
• A seventh member of the board. Selected by the elected board members.

The make-up of the Trust Board ensures the views of small growers are fairly recognised. It also ensures the Trust is committed to the needs of the industry as a whole. Trust Board members have 4-year terms. The rotation policy for elected Board Members is that no less frequently than every second year, the positions of one Board Member elected under Rule 4.3a and two Board Members elected under Rule 4.3b shall come up for election.
